Brand of the Month: ColieCo Lingerie

Part of what I wanted to achieve with my blog was to showcase amazing brands that are choosing to do fashion differently and show you all why we should be supporting these brands.

ColieCo Lingerie is the perfect example of the type of brand we should be supporting. The founder, Nicole Neaber, and I got talking on social media and we ended up doing an interview together talking about her company and how she got started in sustainable lingerie, go check it out here!

What makes ColieCo such a good brand?

Sustainability

Nicole uses sustainable, low-carbon material, or fabric reclaimed from industry dead stock, line-ends or off-cuts that would have been destined for landfill. ColieCo also avoids using silk, a material with one of the worst environmental impact due to the chemicals used in the pesticides, the land and water use to grow the Mulberry trees and the extraction process is very energy intensive. Plus, to make silk you have to steam or pierce the silkworm, effectively killing it inside its own cocoon, completely unethical and cruel. All ColieCo lingerie is made to order, meaning no wasted products!

Size inclusive

The brand also is incredibly size inclusive, with a size range of XS to XL and the option to create a custom order by emailing in your measurements to create the perfect set for your body shape!

Ethically made

Nicole works her team in an in-house studio in Sagres, Portugal, to produce her lingerie, and everyone is well paid and works in a safe and comfortable environment. They also partner with other small, independent businesses who share ColieCo’s commitments to their employees.

Nicole very kindly sent me a set of their bamboo silk lingerie to review so I’m going to talk about the products and what I like about them, but I’ll also let you guys see some of the other collections that I love too!

The set I chose was the Araya bamboo silk soft cup bra and the Zoey bamboo mid-rise panties, you can get matching sets, but these were the ones I preferred together that matched my style.

The panties are a nice cut on the leg and have a cute scalloped trim along the edges, and the bamboo fabric is incredibly soft and lightweight, with a good amount of stretch in it.  The soft cup bra features a mesh half-cup and a bamboo silk under-cup (no idea if these are the right words haha) and the bra band is elasticated which gives it a really nice comfortable fit. The scalloped trim continues on the bra along the cup and bottom of the band, giving it a nice feminine touch. The finishes (hoops, strap adjusters and bra clasp) are a shiny gold which give it that sense of glamour.

This set is perfect for the right balance of comfort and sensuality – something we don’t often get the joy of both in the lingerie world! It fits like a glove and feels soft on my skin, perfect for wearing all day. I would highly recommend this set for anyone looking to invest in a good set that will last them a long time and make them feel brand new every time they wear them!

The set was delivered in 100% recyclable packaging and the box was small enough to fit through my letterbox – very handy for when you can’t wait around all day for a delivery and great to see as most brands send huge boxes even though the product is so small!

ColieCo has several collections of lingerie, as well as swimwear and bodysuits, in a range of prints, colours and fabrics. It really depends on what colours you like and the style of lingerie you prefer. These were some of my other favourite sets; (from left to right) Astrid, Midnight and Sugarplum.

Go and check out the ColieCo website and treat yourself to a new set of guilt-free lingerie, knowing you’re supporting a sustainable, ethical company!
